Perfect Parenting

Is there such a thing? I've been a parent for more than 10 years now and I am still searching for the best parenting strategies and tips from books, magazines, TV and from other parents as well. There's a common goal, and that is to raise our children in the best possible way we know how. So how do we know we're doing it right? Is there a standard way of doing it, or should we just follow our instincts and deal with every situation as it comes? Well I think we should have guidelines to follow and rules to set. Being consistent makes our intentions more solid and our children can relate with the rules better if we have consistency. So we can safely say that even though there may not be Perfect Parenting, there is such a thing as Good Parenting. I've read somewhere that good parenting is parenting that fosters psychological adjustment- elements like honesty, empathy, self-reliance, kindness, cooperation, self-control and cheerfulness. Good parenting is parenting that helps children succeed in school. It promotes the development of intellectual curiosity, motivation to learn and the desire to achieve. It deters children from anti-social behavior, delinquency and drug and alcohol use. And good parenting is parenting that protect children against the development of anxiety, depression, eating disorders and other types of psychological distress. All of these traits should be taken into consideration when dealing with our kids, We have a lot of work to do if we want to keep up with our children's growth, physically, emotionally and mentally. There is no more important job in any society than raising children, and there is no more important influence on how children develop than their parents. So who is up for the challenge?

My Nephew' s Nap-Mat

My nephew’s baptism is nearly coming soon, but I don’t have any idea what gift to buy for him. So I ask my hubby for some tips on what to buy but I want it to be something useful for my nephew whose 3 months old. Then he said why not surf the net and browse some sites for gift ideas for the baptism. When I saw a Train Quilted Toddler Backpack knew it had to be the one. It’s so cute, adorable and colorful. My nephew can use it for the small diapers and milk bottles. The nap-mat was great for outdoor gatherings, it’s beautiful and there are plenty other designs to choose from. By the way, the colors are really great, you can never go wrong. My favorite part about it is that, it’s soft and so easy to carry and it even has a small, removable pillow and rolls up carrying straps. They’re so easy to clean, just toss them in the washing machine and they’re set. Try also the Medium Backpack you can even embroider your child’s name on the bag. Pretty cool right?

Trees on Protest

Trees have Life! This is obviously the message that people who drew images of persons on these trees are trying to get across. Our town is currently undergoing road widening projects all over, but to accomplish this, trees have to be cut down. Some say progress have certain sacrifices, and this is a great example. These trees have been here for a very long time. I remember the first time I had the chance to take this route, I was amazed of the trees with their branches meeting in the middle giving shade to all who pass. Some trees have already been cut and I've been lucky to take pictures of some of them while they are still standing. Maybe a few days from now, we won't see a single tree by these roads again. How sad.
